Spirit Island

Spirit Island puts more pieces on the board than almost any game we work on. By the third turn a single land can hold explorers, towns, a city, blight, fear tokens and presence from two different spirits. All of it in flat cardboard, all of it overlapping.

The upgrades here are about silhouette. Explorers, towns and cities become three clearly different heights, so you can count a land at a glance. Presence markers get one shape per spirit, which matters most in the four-player games where two spirits share territory. Blight sits low and dark so it reads as damage rather than as another invader.

The full set covers 274 pieces, which is enough for the base game plus the common expansions. Individual token sets are available if you only want to replace the parts that bother you.
