The Lord of the Rings LCG: what we print, and what stays cardboard
Component by component: which parts of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game have a printed replacement and which do not.
| Component | What we make | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Resource tokens | 24 tokens in values of 1, 3 and 5, so a hero sitting on nine resources holds three tokens instead of nine. See the set → | Printed |
| Progress tokens | 22 tokens in values of 1, 3 and 5, for quest cards that need more progress than a handful of ones can show. See the set → | Printed |
| Damage tokens | 22 tokens in values of 1, 3 and 5. See the set → | Printed |
| Exhausted characters | 20 markers, for tables where turning a card sideways is not obvious enough across four seats. See the set → | Printed |
| Defence, attack and power | 12 shields, 12 attack markers and 12 power markers, told apart by shape rather than by reading them. See the set → | Printed |
| Threat | 12 markers. The threat dial in the box stays; these are for the threat that sits on cards. See the set → | Printed |
| The first player token | A ring, which doubles as the first player marker. See the set → | Printed |
| Encounter and player cards | Nothing. Cards stay as they come. | |
| Quest card stands | Nothing. We make card stands for Arkham Horror, not for this game. | |
| Box insert | Nothing. We do not make an insert for this game. |
Common questions
Why do the tokens have values on them?
Because the game asks you to hold larger numbers than the core set has tokens for. A hero with nine resources needs nine cardboard tokens, or three printed ones. The pile stops covering the card, and you read the number instead of counting it.
Which values are in the set?
Resources, progress and damage all come in values of 1, 3 and 5. Any total the game asks for is a short stack of those.
Does this replace the threat dial?
No. The dial in the box tracks your own threat and stays where it is. The markers here are for threat placed on enemies and locations.
Does it work with cards in sleeves?
Yes. Nothing here sits inside a sleeve or on top of a card edge.
Do you print the heroes, the cards or the quest decks?
No. We print what goes around them.
Are these official Lord of the Rings LCG products?
No. Everything here is an unofficial accessory, designed and printed in our workshop. The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a trademark of Fantasy Flight Games and Middle-earth Enterprises, and no game components are included.
